I love where I Iive………..it started with Gooseberry Jam!

pink gooseberry jelly

I love where I live, yesterday I made pink gooseberry jam with fruit from my local green grocer, Dave at ‘5 a day’ High Street, Alcester, after having the most scrumptious, bacon packed, fresh crusty bread sandwich at ‘Fat Cats’ Cafe, High Street, Alcester, (oh and bacon from Reg Phillips butcher, also on the High Street).

I am going to paint two stools today picked up from ‘Classic Clutter’, Alcester High Street, and must plug the lovely Tracey at ‘Vintage Love’ , Market Place Alcester, facebook.com/vintageloveuk who is now stocking a selection of Sara Page design.  Finally I have just come back from my printers; Dean, Pete, Gavin, Chris and Candy, a great team, Space Graphic Solutions.   Chris despite having had hardly any sleep, back  in the early hours from Henley Festival (hanging printed wallpaper), he still helped me out with a sample print out of my Allotment design for glass kitchen splash back/wallpaper.

I feel very privileged to have lived for 20 years, in this beautiful part of Warwickshire, where I have these talented, entrepreneurial people on my doorstep. I just wanted to champion ‘local’, and the ‘high St’ something my family and friends will tell you I have banged on about for the last 20 years, so forgive me  for my indulgence.

Busy preparing for Autumn Fair show this September, take a look me on the show website entitled ‘the art of the table’, bringing Sara’s painterly, colourful style to your kitchen.

Lets enjoy the artists simple brush strokes all around us, a growing trend for the uncluttered, fresh, spontaneous response to the beauty around us. Our kitchen tasks can feel ‘more artisan than arduous!’ And match the culinary creativity that is happening……

The Show. The Guards, Primrose Hill, Chelsea, Notting Hill Carnival and Covent Garden.

lucinda.burman

So last week I had a collaborative pop up show with Milly McCallum, and it went really well! I sold work and took private commissions, so I’m pleased as punch. The work is still available to be seen – 265 King’s Road along with other sorts of work too this week, if you are in the area pop in!

I had a lot of fun with this work as I played with folding the paper to create a 3d element, texture and therefore aura of lots of people, as I wanted these pieces to be based around figures, crowds and people. We have ‘Change of the Guards’, The Sunbathers on Primrose Hill’ ‘Notting Hill Carnival’ ‘Jose’s Boys – Stamford Bridge’ and ‘The Jugglers in Covent Garden’. They were then framed in really stylish box frames with conservation glass and so I was really pleased with the quality and finish to…
